The Vessel Project consists of a series of small oil paintings that were made in the fall of 2019 during my first pregnancy. As my body began to more and more obviously transform itself around a person I had yet to meet, I came to reconsider the concept of "the vessel" and its role relative to the things that it might hold. Expressions of a radical and common act of caretaking and compromise, these paintings are relational images that point towards the unspeakably dynamic process of making a life and a home.
