Artist Statement

Mine is a humble journey, creating art inspired by stories that are mundane if deeply personal, though stories with aspects that can resonate on a considerably broader scale. For over a decade I have tapped into my experiences in mothering as inspiration for my work, celebrating the small but essential moments that illuminate this life-long journey.

My artwork uses whatever media seems to best fit the story, taking shape through prints, drawings, book-like forms, collages, assemblages and most recently through larger-scale mixed-media installations. While my art practice can take serendipitous turns, I continually rely on my grounding in traditional study of color, form, line and shape. I also rely on continued reading and reflection on what it means to raise children in such uncertain times.
